Volunteer Guidelines

Age Requirement

All volunteers must be between the ages of 13 and 19 years of age. Don't want to be a Chapter President, but still looking to join a chapter to earn volunteer hours? Please complete our application form HERE. If approved, you will be contacted by TAFI.

Goal

Each volunteer is responsible for collecting 50 pounds of food in a 365 day period from which they joined TAFI.

  • Members can accept monetary donations or in-kind donations to put towards their 50 lbs. food requirement.

Timeline

Your first date as a TAFI member must be recorded and submitted for each volunteer to be recognized as a member of the TAFI organization.

Food Requirements

Food collection needs to align with the food requirements designated by TAFI at the time of pantry food distribution.

  • TAFI will base food requirements on the needs of the Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries pantry.
  • However, each member can donate their 50 lbs. of food to their pantry of choice. If you choose to donate to a different panty, please contact that pantry to find out what their needs are. For example: some pantries may be low on canned vegetables while others may be in need of canned proteins or pasta.
  • Please note that food pantry needs change over time so stay up-to-date with what is needed by checking the latest needs HERE.

Weighing Collection

Once 50 lbs. of food are collected, each member must have it weighed. There is a weigh station in The Woodlands/Tomball. If the volunteer is unable to take their goods to this station then photographic proof of weight must be submitted to the President of their chapter.

Delivery

Each volunteer is responsible for delivering their donation to the food pantry.

Volunteer Hours Log

Submit your volunteer hours to your Chapter President for TAFI approval . Maximum amount of TAFI volunteer hours that will be accepted over the course of a one year period is 10.
